QUESTIONS FROM THE REACH SURVEY
1. Can I extend my pledge over a longer period of time?
Pledges can be made several ways: Cash gifts can be made as a one time gift or a commitment over a period of time (you can decide how long). Real estate, stocks, bonds, and estate planning are also ways one can contribute to the REACH project. Please contact our office at 360-692-6414 for additional information or email reach@silverdalebaptist.com .
2. Does the new building have to be so large?
The current worship center's main floor is 3440 square feet with the balcony at 1280 square feet for a total of 4720 square feet and seating for 350 people. The new building will be 7350 square feet and will seat 775. The size of the new building was designed to meet the current need with room for future growth. The new building will also help accommodate larger events so that seating will not be limited (example: Dinner Theatre). It is about giving more people a place to grow and experience God together.
3. In the current economic time, what are the plans and contingencies related to the REACH project?
The REACH project is continually being evaluated. The Building Committee meets once a month to discuss the plans and strategize. We are committed to prayerfully seek God in every process of the project.
4. Is the REACH project the best way to minister to the community?
The need we are experiencing is that we do not have enough seats for all of our members and visitors. We have seen on several occasions where people have come to a service, could not find a seat, and left the premises. It is our hope that all who visit SBC will hear the gospel. Therefore, it is time to expand our worship area to ensure those who come to church have a place to sit and an opportunity to hear God’s Word.
5. What is the goal of having this building?
The goal is to have a place where more people can hear the gospel and that we, as a church, can minister to the community in more effective ways.
6. Is a multi-purpose center the only solution?
The new building needs to be used to its maximum potential. This is why a multi-purpose building was designed in order to be used seven days a week for a variety of purposes. The community will have more opportunities to use a multi-purpose room and therefore allow us to minister to a larger range of people. The REACH project will also enlarge our nursery care and bring the kids closer to the worship center. The café’ will allow people to spend time building relationships. And a large foyer will provide a much needed informal gathering place.
7. Can we start another church rather than build another building?
If Silverdale Baptist Church was called to start another church – we would! At this time, we do not feel called to split or start another church. We feel God leading us to make more room so that more people will have a place to grow and experience God together.
8. Can we add a Sunday evening service?
A few years ago we used to have a Sunday evening service. This service was attended by members who also attended the morning service. It was eliminated to help give our small groups another time to meet. We do however have Body Life nights in January, April and November that occur on Sunday night where we address church business (membership and budget updates, etc.) and give visiting missionaries, that we support, an opportunity to update our church with what is happening on the mission field.
9. Who makes up the REACH committee?
The REACH committee is made up of several individuals that include the Executive Pastor, Building Committee, REACH assistant and others as needed.
10. What is the REACH financial plan?
In March, our leadership boards will be meeting to discuss the options of the financial plan. During this meeting, these options will be prayed over, researched and discussed before the next step is determined.
11. We are unable to give beyond our normal tithe, should we split our tithe?
We recommend that you prayerfully consider a REACH commitment that is in addition to current giving. Please continue with your current giving since those funds are considered part of our general fund for ministry expenses. When you are able to make this new REACH committment, you can designate money specifically to the REACH project. You can give two ways: 1) Pledge a certain amount over a period of time. 2) One Time Gifts - designate REACH on your check and drop it in the offering or online giving - www.silverdalebaptist.com.
12. What are the goals of the building? Will this create jobs or community involvement?
The goal is to have a place where more people can hear the gospel and that we, as a church, can minister to the community in more effective ways. With our added gym/multipurpose facility, we will be able to provide community access for our local youth/adult sporting activities as well as theatrical productions or other community events.
13. Does the REACH plan address the entrances?
The current entrances were constructed and approved with the Washington State safety standards and will meet any additional traffic flow that will be created by the new building. Construction of the new building will not require any additional construction to our entrances.
Check back each week as we will continue to post your questions and concerns.
