Saturday Service FAQs
What are the vital statistics?
Saturdays at 6:00 PM - in the gym - beginning January 13, 2007
Why are we launching the Saturday Service?
We've been considering a Saturday service for many years, and we're convinced that the Lord is leading us to launch this service now as another creative way to reach our community with the good news of Jesus Christ.
Who do we hope will come to the Saturday Service?
There are two groups of people we are praying will find a home at the Saturday service. The first is those who are unable to come on Sundays because of work or other commitments: realtors, retail workers, military personnel, etc. The second group we hope will come is those who might resonate with the contemporary casual atmosphere; people without a church background or those who haven't been to church in a long time. Which brings us to our next question...
What is the style of the Saturday Service?
The Saturday service will be guided by "The Three Cs"
Contemporary: the music, PowerPoint, art, decorations and language will all be strategically contemporary.
Casual: the style of dress, the seating, the lighting and the style of communication will all be more casual. Even the choice to have the service in the gym makes it more casual. And of course, it's hard to do "casual" without...
Coffee: Everyone loves coffee! OK not everyone loves coffee, but coffee brings a more comfortable, casual, community atmosphere to the service. There's a reason people love to hang out at Starbucks!
Can I come to the Saturday Service?
Everyone is welcome to the Saturday service.
How will the Saturday Service affect other ministries?
Just like our Sunday morning service, the Saturday service will be the leading edge of ministry at SBC. As with any change, having a service in the gym every Saturday night will require adjustments in our other ministries. The two ministries most directly affected are KidStuf and Thrive as they use the gym on Sunday mornings. For these two ministries, the current rehearsal and setup schedule will be adjusted to accommodate the Saturday service, and the Saturday service team will take over the setup of the gym. As we look to the future, when we encounter "schedule conflicts" we will see them as opportunities for cooperation!
Who is leading the Saturday Service?
Pastor Barry will be preaching (the same message as Sunday morning services), and until we find a worship leader (applications and job descriptions are available in the church office), Pastor Mike will be leading the musical worship. Pastor Mike is also chairing the launch team for Saturday service. He would love your feedback, your questions, and most importantly, your prayers and offers of help! Any questions may be directed to Pastor Mike at the church office - 369.692.6414 or email - mike@silverdalebaptist.com.
