Our Heritage

As early as 1904 a humble circuit rider named Antone Linn preached here and around the Olympic Peninsula. Over the years a church was formed near the head of Dyes Inlet and grew. Our identification as the Silverdale Baptist Church and affiliation were carefully chosen in 1971. In 1976, a young man from Iowa, Rev. Curtis DeGraaff accepted the call of God and the small congregation of 50 to become its pastor. By the grace of God, and requiring great faith, the church moved to this present site in 1989.

In April of 2003, Pastor DeGraaff resigned to take a pastorate in Covington, Kentucky. From 1991-2000 Barry Bandara was the Youth Pastor here at SBC. From 2000-2005 he served as the High School Pastor at the First Evangelical Free Church in Fullerton, CA. only to return in August of 2005 to become Silverdale Baptist Church’s next Senior Pastor.
